Denounce with all means the warmongering role of NATO and the USA
Rete dei Comunisti
With the provocation of Ukraine joining NATO, in violation of the agreements made after the end of the USSR, the Biden administration hoped to frighten Russia and regain a domestic credibility that was in vertical decline.
But things turned out very differently. With the recognition of the two Donbass Republics, NATO and Ukraine are faced with the choice of raising the level of confrontation and challenged to intervene militarily against the two independent republics.
For now, NATO’s response has not yet been military, and there is still talk of sanctions, which often hurt those who adopt them rather than those who are the victims. After so much propaganda and warnings about the invasion of Ukraine, the US now has to decide how to respond to the recognition of the two Russian-populated Donbass Republics, in which Russia has actually been present for at least eight years.
The US and NATO are playing two different games in which they have no guarantee of the outcome. The first is to put Russia in difficulty as a component of the constituting “Asian bloc” which, together with China, is seriously undermining Western hegemony, especially after the shameful flight from Afghanistan that demonstrated its strategic weakness.
The other is to bring the European Union’s “allies” under strategic control, using the “Ascari” of the Baltic countries, Poland, Romania, etc. But what is emerging is a growing divergence of interests between the US and the EU, in which even Draghi himself is being attacked by the Anglo-American press.
It is clear to everyone that in the event of a conflict in Europe or sanctions against Russia, it is European companies, their relations and their economic expansion in the East that will be put at risk. This is despite the fact that European politicians are aligning themselves with US positions, a choice that will also be paid for in economic terms by the peoples of the EU.
On the other hand, this is not the first time this has happened, and it already happened in the 1980s with the decision to install the Euro-missiles in Europe. The obvious intention of the United States was to put European countries in difficulty, starting with Germany, which with Ostpolitik aimed to reduce tension with the USSR in order to develop economic relations. Today the same thing is happening with Germany and the EU itself, of which the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is a tangible example.
The crisis of world hegemony clearly emerges precisely from the adventurist use of military force at a time when the impossibility of producing a general development reduces the ability of US imperialism to maintain the leading role it has had since the 1990s.
Putin’s recognition of the Donbass Republics has certainly prevented the Nazis and Russophobic Ukrainians from repeating in the independent republics the massacres carried out in 2014 with the coup d’état supported by the West.
History, however, is also presenting the bill to an oligarchic regime such as the Russian one that, with the betrayal of the USSR reaffirmed by Putin himself with the ridiculous statements about Lenin, thought to ensure Western recognition and to consider itself safe from NATO aggression.
For these reasons, the Rete dei Comunisti (Italy) indicates to mobilise wherever possible and denounce with all means the warmongering role of NATO and the USA.
