Cambiare Rotta
We wanted to send a message of solidarity and struggle for the Kononovich brothers, two young communist and anti-fascist militants who have been kidnapped and tortured by the Ukrainian government’s security services since March, and today there is no news of them.
The war in Ukraine – we have shouted this in the anti-imperialist mobilisations and supported it in so many counter-information initiatives to the infamous Western propaganda – did not begin in February, but in 2014, with the US and EU coup and Kjev’s war on the peoples of the Donbass.
In these eight years many, many very young people, like the Kononovich brothers have put their very lives on the line against the repression, deployed – legally and otherwise – by the coup governments with the infamous manoeuvring of Nazi battalions and the institutions themselves – repression that has also passed through the outlawing by ‘democratic’ Ukraine of communists and an increasingly violent government crackdown in recent months against opposition parties, movements and activists.
They put their lives on the line not only for the resistance of the peoples of the Donbass and the anti-fascists against Kjev’s warlike aggression and the anti-social policies of the coup plotters against all Ukrainian workers, but for the clear field choice to organise and fight for the socialist alternative to the barbarity of capitalism.
We are and always will be on the side of those who have chosen to stand on the right side of the barricade and, today more than ever, of history!
